Note from Supervisor:

Dear HI Desk Team, as the Fall Quarter draws to a close, I am reflecting how far we've grown since September. Within 2.5 months you've been part of a transformative time for the Hospitality Information Department and the greater UCSD campus. I am delighted and grateful to have a strong/dependable team to help navigate and run the operations at the HI Desks within newest communities at UCSD- Pepper Canyon West and Eighth College. I am excited for what the new year holds for the Hospitality and Conference Services team as we continue to grow and welcome more full time staff into the mix.

Operational Updates + HI Desk Unwrapped '24

Transact Machine

  • To troubleshoot the transact machine, please gently unplug both the power and internet connection from the transact machine for 1 minute and re-plug both connections to the machine. Wait for the start up screen to appear and let power.

    • For any additional issues, please contact Christopher or another full-time staff member for further investigation by UCSD RRSS IT.

ID Replacements

  • If a student's ID is malfunctioning or not working correctly after being serviced by our Transact machines, please advise them to visit the Triton Cards Service office at the Student Center for a free ID replacement.

Package Barcodes - Reminder

  • An notice from Student Mail when it comes to scanning the correct label on packages -

    **** Refrain from scanning in the following bar code (circled in blue):

    Instead, scan the longer barcode underneath on predominantly UPS packages.

  • Please review the Barcode Scanning Guide located on the HI Desk Manual OneNote Manual. Ref: Section 4.2a Mail and Packages - Barcode Scanning Guide.

Eighth College

  • Express Checkout station has been set-up near the mailboxes in the front lobby.

    • Residents moving out after hours may use this to turn in their key through the mailbox slots


Pepper Canyon West

  • Pin codes for Pepper Canyon West residential buildings have now been removed as of Tuesday 12/11

    • Residents will now use their student IDs to tap to enter the lobbies of Rya and Vela.


Sixth College Meetings - Client Review
